Re: Configuring Doors with TDS I have used DOORS with TDS and it was a pain to configure. I can't comment on your specific situation but if you haven't, what you ought to do is create a DOORS group on your LDAP server. Tell TDS that someone needs to be in the DOORS group on the LDAP server in order to access DOORS and you're in. That all being said, there are lots of drawbacks to using TDS. As horrible as the admin interface is in DOORS for dealing with users, it's worse using TDS because you have to constantly filter for users. We can't download the entire enterprise every single time we go into the user menu, as that would take forever. Oh, and if you want to do that and work for a large corporation, it will take forever. Secondly, and this is a real drawback, you have to update TDS when you upgrade/update DOORS. This adds a layer of complexity in the upgrade. For instance, what if your company uses Synergy and there's a project going on and they don't want to update it until a certain time. If both Synergy and DOORS are configured to use TDS, you can't upgrade DOORS because TDS is generally not backwards compatible. In other words, if you update DOORS and TDS, Synergy users won't be able to sign in! I highly prefer doing my user management in DOORS. Single sign-ons are great, but I don't set my DOORS servers to expire passwords, so it's not a big deal, and it makes my life more inconvenient with a horrid admin interface. |
